Unitec

Unitec LogoThe Veterinary Specialist Group (VSG®) hospital is situated in the Unitec grounds, with its own entrance off Carrington Road.

The Animal Emergency Centre and VSG® are standalone entities, but we work alongside Unitec in Training the Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and Bachelor of Applied Science (Animal Management and Welfare), therefore contributing to elevating the level of professionalism of veterinary nursing staff in New Zealand. VSG®’s relationship with Unitec is a formal one, with the students scheduled to spend time in the hospital as part of their course requirements. The Animal Emergency Centre, on the other hand, accepts students for external clinical placement which they arrange independently.

Many Diploma of Veterinary Nursing students have enjoyed their time at the Animal Emergency Centre, and we have employed multiple Unitec graduates over the years.

The four VSG® partners are Honorary Research Associates for Unitec.
